It's been a while...

Hello! It's me. :) It has been quite some time since I have added anything new to my blog. A lot as being happening in my life. Left a job, and started working at a couple new jobs. Started college classes. I have been out of school for 24 years, so it was quite a change for me. I am excited to see where this new journey takes me!
I am showing graduation cards, but I haven't graduated yet. ;) It is just that time of year. Have a couple friends that have graduates, in their house, this year. What an exciting time, for these young men and women. Praying for them, as they make their choices for the journey ahead of them.

Until next time! Have fun crafting and enjoy the precious moments in life!

Address books...

These were probably one of my favorite projects to make.  They are an address book with pockets to keep greeting cards.

They are made with 6x9 envelopes that have a place to write birthdays and important dates for the month.  The envelopes also hold your cards, that you need to send.

Between the envelopes are pages for addresses.

They were fun to make, and I hope they were well used.

A craft from the past...

I remember just 11 years ago, I found a site that offered the best clipart around.  That site was pcCrafter.  They are now closed and do not offer any clipart for sale.  The artists have moved on, some have started their own sites, and some have gone to larger scale businesses.  I made so many friends from the forum on that site.  I am even friends with quite a few of them on facebook.  We have shared our lives and our crafts with each other.  This was one, of many, of the crafts that just took off and we all had fun with making them.  Everyone had their own version and style.  This was mine.

I used different style glasses, filled them with potpourri and mini lights.  Then I put a cute lampshade on top.
I hope this might inspire you to create something new!

Just some valentine stuff...

It is hard to believe that the first weekend in February is over.  This month is going to fly by.  Next Monday is Valentine's Day, are you ready?  I have been working on a lot of gifts and cards.  I have been enjoying myself.  Here are just some of the things I have made:

Sorry the last photo is not very good. I should have taken the photo next to my window, it would have turned out so much better.  I saw it on the Spellbinders blog, and I thought it was gorgeous.  Mine did not turn out as pretty as hers, but I still liked it.

Thanks for looking.  Will try to post more pictures later.

Happy Weekend and Winner for RAK...

Good Saturday evening!  Hope it has been a great day for all.  I was able to finish up my valentine cards to go to my swap sister.  I will post a picture after I know she has received them.  :o)  I want to finish a couple more cards for friends and family.  I will post those as soon as I am done.

And now the winner for the rak.  Here is a screen shot of the winning post number:

And the winning post was made by Nell, who said:
"I will also have to add you to my followed blogs. I have only recently gotten into blogging (even though I have not actually started my own yet). I pretty much still go to my local scrapbook store to use their punches and such. I figure it's just about time to start my own collection so I would love to be considered in your RAK. Thanks for doing this.

Nell
"

I want to thank everyone who joined!  I hope to be able to do this again, very soon.  Off now, to email Nell.

Many hugs,
Lorie

What's on your worksdesk Wednesday...

Sending out a Thanks to everyone that has entered for the RAK, so far.  Keep 'em coming!  :o)

I have seen this on many blogs, showing what is on your workspace.  Julia over at the Stamping Ground does this every Wednesday.  She calls it WOYWW.  Well, I thought I would jump in and start showing my workspace:
This is for all the comments I got about how clean my area looked.  Well, girls, you have to remember that I had just done my cleaning and organizing.  It no longer looks clean!  But I love it like this!!  It means I'm creating!!  :o)

As you can tell from the pink paper, I am working on Valentines.  I am on pink overload!!  Well, not really, I love pink, so I not much chance that I will get tired of it.

Please be sure and show a picture of your workspace.  I would love to see it!

Hugs,
Lorie

My goof, your gain...

First off, wow...long time no blog.  I kept trying to get back into crafting, but I could not find any motivation or spark.  I think I may have finally found it.  I just hope that it sticks around for a while.  :o)

What helped me find my motivation was getting my craft area cleaned and switched around.  I now have a craft table to work on.  It is so nice to have a bigger space to work on my crafts.  Here are some mobile picks of the area (these were taken just after I finished my mini-makeover, it does look a little different now.)

I love my table area, right next to my computer/printer.  I can have my Martha Stewart score board right on the table, and leave it there.  I still have enough room in the middle to craft. It really does make me very happy!  :o)

While I was cleaning and organizing, I found that I had duplicate punches.  I have a Stampin' Up! small heart punch:

And a EK Success 1" circle punch:

I am offering these for a RAK.  Just leave a comment here on my blog, and I will use random.org to pick a winner.  I will leave the RAK open until Friday (1/21/2011).  Good luck to everyone!  Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Baby love and cards for my mom...

It's been a long since I've posted something.  It's been very busy around the house.  Lylah is just over 2 months old now, and Caleb is 19 months...so we are very busy.  Caleb has been very wonderful toward his little sister, he just loves her so.  Always kissing her, and wanting to hold her.  Such a sweet little man.  When we brought Lylah home from the hospital, my youngest daughter got the best picture of Caleb kissing Lylah:
Now that isn't that the most precious thing ever!  I just love it!
Well, Mother's Day was on the 9th, and I spent some time making some cards and book marks for my mom.  She is always wondering where a bookmark is, so I like to keep a good supply for her.  These were super easy.  I just took a 12x12 piece of card stock, with a strip pattern.  Then I cut some rectangle shapes from the paper, had my kids sign and date the back, ran them through a laminator...and now my mom has 7 more book marks.  I think she'll be good for a while.  Here are the cards I made for her.

Some little notebooks…

Just wanted to spice up some small notebooks.  One was for a prize during the pcC board “sketti” party.  I hope Jaime like's it. :o)  The other one is for the contest that I am having for guessing Lara’s due date.  Got the idea for dressing up the notebooks from Gina K DesignsStamp TV.  She has some very wonderful projects on her site.  Love the gift card holder, really want to try that!

Off to work on some cards, for a RAK that Nanc is hosting for the pcC board.  Have a great weekend, everyone!

New month, new Scentsy scents, and a little contest...

Ready for March? Ready for Spring? I am looking forward to warmer days, rain instead of snow, and pretty flowers making their appearance.

The new scents are available at Scentsy. They are many wonderful new scents, and some returning favorites. Among the returning is Blueberry Cheesecake, very yummy! There is new Tropical Twist - a blend of papaya, mango, and mandarin. Love clean, crisp scents, our scent of the month is just right...Spring Clean.

I am having a little contest. Lara is due in a couple weeks. Put some guesses here to when she might have the baby (give date and time), the winner will get a free Scentsy hanging car scent of their choice, and a personalized notepad and pen. Just to give you an idea, she will be 37 weeks along on Wednesday (3/3).

To get a sample of any scent, just email me and I would be happy to send you one!

Hugs,
Lorie

Haven't done much....

After my stay in the hospital, I just haven't been in a crafting mood. I did join a swap on the pcCrafter MB, around Valentine's day. I guess I should get some pictures posted of what I made for my swap buddy. That did help spark a little creativity. I joined an Easter swap, and I have been working on my cards and treat. I don't want to post any pictures of those until my swap buddy gets them.

I found a new bog to follow: Jacque's Joie de Vivre  She says she new to the card-making and stamping world...you could not tell it by her creations. I was very impressed with all that I saw on her site. I hope you will stop by and give it a look.

Well, I'm off to finish my Easter swap.

Hugs to all,
Lorie

Ouch, and learn to keep my mouth shut...

Wow, what a week. Talk about a series of unfortunate events. Here is the short version, if you would like to know all that happened...I will explain more. I went into the hospital on late Tuesday, early Wednesday for a gall stone attack, and ended up in mental hospital because I said something "wrong" coming out of anesthesia. After being away from my family for a week, I am finally home.

I had dinner around 6pm Tuesday evening. Around 7 I started having pains, and they just weren't going away. Finally my mom got me to go to the ER around midnight. They check and my gall stones were on the move, so the moved me to the surgical ward to get my gall bladder removed. Wednesday, day was a lot of tests and waiting. My liver enzymes were elevated and those had to come down before I could have surgery. Okay, now to let you know that I have not had anything to eat or drink since dinner Tuesday night. All I had Wednesday was a saline drip. Thursday morning the surgeon comes to my room around 7 am and tells me enzyme counts went up, I could not have surgery today, I had to have an endoscopic procedure done first (tube down throat to remove stones from bile duct.) I was a little saddened by this, as I was missing my family and wanted to be home. Told the nurse I was feeling my depression creep in, she said she would have someone talk to me, if I would like...seemed ok to me. Family practice comes in around 8am and says I will have the procedure done in an hour, and be ready for some chicken broth at lunch. Waiting, waiting, (no food or drink) nurse comes in around 1pm, procedure will be at 5pm, so nothing more to eat or drink today (more?? I hadn't had anything.) Someone comes to talk to me about my depression, learns I'm feeling very sad, will talk to me again Friday. I get the procedure done. I am finally allowed chicken broth. I had 2 sips of broth and a sip of water, and was out. Nurse comes in and tells me (during one of my awake times) I will have surgery at 9 am Friday morning, so nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Well, I was pretty much out of it for the rest of the evening. When I woke at 2am, my broth and water were gone. I slept ok. Had my surgery at 9am. Came out of surgery, finally able to have chicken broth for lunch. Still coming out of anesthesia and finally getting some nutrition from broth, person comes back to talk to me about depression; I said I hurt so much and was so hungry I'd almost rather be dead. BOOOM!!! They called mental hospital, phsychiatrist says, she is suicidal, admit her here. I was put on an involuntary 72 hour hold. I was taken to WBI at 7:30pm Friday night. Saturday, I told Dr. P, I am not suicidal, I was starving, dehydrated, and in pain...my thoughts were not clear at all. Was told, nothing can be done, I needed to wait until at least Tuesday before I could "maybe" go home, they would need to re-evaluate me. Talked with another Dr. on Monday, he said I was probably talked to at the wrong time, he thought I should be able to go home...only it would still be as early as Tuesday. Tuesday morning comes around, he makes his final recommendation that I can go home. I am finally able to leave WBI at 2:15 Tuesday.

If you made it through, thank you for reading...it felt good to get it all out and off my chest.

I am so glad to be home. I was not able to see my kids all week and sleeping on a bed that is about 2 inches thick with a pillow that feels like a folded up blanket...I am so ready to sleep in my own bed.

Whatever you do, don't let yourself get so weak...and then try to talk. I will do whatever I can to not ever end up in such an unguarded and weak state that I get myself in that situation again.

I'll say again...Wow!

Hugs,
Lorie
